Oral health myths—the truth about bleaching

Bleaching your teeth weakens them. Fact or fiction? Fiction, according to Today Health. They may become translucent, but will not become weakened. According to the American Dental Association, bleaching simply changes the natural tooth color by removing deep and surface stains. Bleaching can increase temperature sensitivity in teeth, according to the American Dental Hygienists’ Association. The ADHA also cautions that being overzealous with over-the-counter home bleaching products can wear away tooth enamel and encourages professional application.
