Only 1 percent of Canadian children see a dentist within their first year of life

From their analysis of the primary dental care data of more than 2,500 children, researchers have found that only very few children in Canada had seen a dentist for an oral health assessment by the recommended age of 12 months. They also found that especially children from low-income families and those with a higher intake of sugary drinks had not seen a dentist until the age of 5.
